A portable general purpose, solid state, programmable optical time domain reflectometer (otdr) which utilizes the time domain reflectometry to identify, locate, measure and display faults, splices, components, and terminations in multimode and single mode fibers at 850, 1300, 1310 and 1550 nanometers (nm). The otdr will perform calibrated optical attenuation (loss) and distance meaasurements on optical fibers and display the results. The otdr will measure and display distance from otdr to faults as well as the distance between any two points displayed on the otdr signature display as selected by the operator.
